Hyangsook Haley Joe
Clinician / Mount Pleasant
I earned my Master’s in Audiology from University of British Columbia. My journey in audiology began with a focus on pediatric care, helping children and adolescents overcome hearing challenges and reach their full potential. It was an incredibly rewarding experience, and I carried those same skills and compassion over to my work at Wavefront, where I now help adults navigate communication barriers and improve their quality of life.
What I love most about my work is the ability to make a real difference in people’s lives. Whether it’s empowering someone to succeed in their career or enhancing their social interactions, knowing that I’m helping people communicate more effectively is what drives me every day.
Before becoming an audiologist, I taught English as a Subsequent Language (ESL) to newcomers to Canada. This experience taught me not only how to help others learn but also how to embrace and appreciate cultural diversity and different perspectives—something that continues to shape how I approach both my work and life.
Outside of my professional life, I’m passionate about animals, particularly rabbits. I volunteer with the Vancouver Rabbit Rescue and Advocacy (VRRA), where I foster abandoned rabbits. It’s a small but meaningful way I can give back to the community and make a difference in the lives of these animals.
