Earwax Removal

Cerumen management and ear cleaning services

Cerumen (earwax) is a naturally occurring substance that helps protect the ear canal, but excessive buildup can lead to discomfort and temporary hearing loss.

If you suspect an earwax blockage is affecting your hearing, our trained clinicians can assess your ears and determine if cerumen removal is necessary.

Using safe and professional techniques, we carefully remove impacted earwax to restore clear hearing and prevent further complications.

Gentle and professional earwax removal

We’ll look inside your ears to determine the severity of the blockage and then take steps to remove the wax.

Depending on the condition of the wax, we may remove it using a microsuction tool, irrigation with warm water to gently flush the ears, or a curette to scoop out the wax.

Frequently Asked Questions

FAQs about earwax removal

Can’t find an answer?

What are the symptoms of earwax blockage?

Built-up earwax can cause a feeling of stuffiness in the ears, tinnitus, reduced hearing aid performance, balance issues, and a feeling of fullness in your ears.

If you don’t currently have a cold or ear infection—as both can produce similar symptoms—then we encourage you to contact us for an ear cleaning consultation.

Are there any risks associated with earwax removal?

There are some associated risks with earwax removal, but they are generally uncommon. Your clinician will review any risks with you based on your health history.

How can I clean my ears at home?

Earwax removal at home can be achievable, but many methods on the market aren’t the safest for your ear health. We recommend avoiding ear candles, cotton swabs, or inserting anything pointy directly into your ears.

Earwax removal drops are available over the counter at most drugstores and prove to be a much safer alternative for cleaning your ears properly. Cleaning the outside of your ears with warm, damp cloths can also help keep your ears clean.

Is a hearing test included in the earwax removal?

If, after your earwax removal appointment, you’re still struggling with a hearing loss, we encourage you to book in with us for a comprehensive hearing assessment to determine if there’s any permanent hearing loss not related to wax blockage.
