About the Role

Reporting directly to the Board of Directors, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) is responsible for planning and leading the strategic, operational, and funding objectives required to achieve Wavefront Centre’s mission and vision, while ensuring adherence to its core values. The CEO has direct oversight of staff leadership, financial viability and growth, as well as the delivery of quality programming and services, including across social enterprise functions. The CEO builds and maintains strong relationships with the Board, staff, clients, consumer groups, the broader community, and external stakeholders. The CEO engages with the sector, community, and government to build organizational capacity and enhance quality, accessible services and programs.

This is an on-site leadership position that requires adaptability to shifting priorities, along with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively. Occasional evening or weekend work may be required in support of management responsibilities, events, or strategic initiatives.

The salary for this role is $175,000 to $205,000, supplemented by a competitive total compensation package that includes enrollment in the BC Municipal Pension Plan, extended health and wellness benefits, vacation, sick and wellness days, professional development opportunities, and performance-based incentives.

Job Summary

The Audiologist provides professional audiology services to Deaf and Hard of Hearing individuals to assist them on their journey to communicate more effectively.

Wavefront Centre delivers innovative services in Accessible Communications, Audiology and Communication Devices, Community Outreach and Community Research that assist people who are Deaf, DeafBlind and Hard of Hearing in achieving full communication accessibility.

Work Performed

Client Services

  • Treatment of clients following bylaws and legislations established by the College of Health & Care Professionals of BC (CHCPBC) [formerly the Speech and Hearing Health Professionals of BC]
  • Assessment of hearing, which includes identification, evaluation, diagnosis and counselling
  • Intervention for hearing, which includes promotion, prevention, counselling, treatment, consultation, management, (re)habilitation and education
  • Measurement of patient or client outcomes for these services
  • Consultation with and referral of clients to other professionals and agencies in order to provide holistic patient-centred care
  • Assessment, selection, prescribing/recommending, dispensing, validation, verification, and servicing hearing aids and other appropriate hearing assistive and (re)habilitative strategies for individuals with hearing loss, auditory processing, tinnitus and/or related disorders. This could include bone conduction hearing devices, assistive technology such as FM systems, and tinnitus re-training as well as measurement of patient or client outcomes for these technologies and strategies
  • Provision of aural (re)habilitation to improve listening and communication skills
  • Cerumen management (training available, if required)
  • Explanation of the impacts of hearing loss on everyday life and provision of direct counselling on the educational, psychological, and social implications of hearing loss to clients, their families, and other individuals on request
  • Provision of reports necessary for a variety of client needs
  • Assist in daily and weekly calibration and maintenance of audiology equipment
  • Assist in maintenance of clinical infection control procedures, safety and sanitary standards
  • Assist in establishing quality control procedures

Research, Education & Outreach

  • Support research projects, as required
  • Support targeted marketing projects, as required
  • Public presentations – information talks as well as educational sessions, as required
  • Supervise Audiology and Hearing Instrument Practitioner program students, as required
  • Assist with training and supervision of Audiometric Technician(s), as required
  • Coordinate with the UBC School of Audiology and Speech Sciences on the education of audiology students on externships, as required

Administration

  • Maintain client records as per college standards
  • Track and report on key performance metrics; reporting/data collection (statistical information), as required
  • Liaise with departments at Wavefront and other agencies for client welfare
  • Knowledge of database and tracking systems (e.g., Blueprint)
  • Participate in regular staff meetings
  • Other related duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree, or higher, in Audiology from an accredited university program
  • Current Audiology and Hearing Instrument Practitioner registration (or eligible for registration) with the College of Health & Care Professionals of BC (CHCPBC)
  • At least one (1) year of experience conducting audiology evaluations on a varied client population
  • Minimum one (1) year experience (preferred) selecting and fitting hearing aids; references attesting to competence in this field required

Skills & Knowledge

  • Proficient computer skills; organized with excellent attention to detail
  • Knowledge of computers and specialized equipment for testing hearing, hearing aids and assistive devices
  • Knowledge of cochlear implants and other implantable devices
  • Able to communicate effectively using empathy and understanding with a range of people including: Deaf and Hard of Hearing, financially, socially, or educationally at risk, or those with multiple disabilities
  • Strong written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Able to work as part of a team and independently with minimum supervision
  • Able to navigate rapidly changing demands, prioritize tasks and deal with interruptions
  • Education or experience in psychology and the effects of a disability
  • Knowledge of the bylaws, legislation, and scopes of practice for audiology as set out by CSHBC
  • Experience with the culture and sensibilities of Deaf persons
  • An interest in research and student supervision
  • Collaborative approach working with other members of the department and across the organization

Hours of work

This role offers 35 hours of work per week. The typical hours of work are from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, Monday to Friday. Incumbents may be asked to work overtime from time to time.

DeafBlind Intervenor

Position Summary

The Intervenor will mediate between DeafBlind older adults and their environment. The Intervenor will work closely with the DeafBlind Program Coordinator, community members and organizations to provide Intervenor services including as sighted guide and facilitating communication using the preferred methods of the individual who is DeafBlind.

Compensation

Acting Director, Audiology + Business Transformation (Maternity Leave Coverage)

Position Status: Full-time, 35 hours per week (Temporary)

Position Summary

The Acting Director of Audiology + Business Transformation will provide leadership and oversight for Wavefront Centre’s audiology services during the maternity leave of the permanent Director. This position plays a key role in sustaining business development, maintaining operational performance, building strategic partnerships, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality audiology care.

Working closely with the Manager of Clinical Services, the Acting Director will focus on business growth, financial management, team support, and clinical service delivery. Importantly, the successful candidate will also provide direct clinical care on a part-time basis as needed to help manage patient demand and reduce wait times.

Compensation

Salary range: $115,000 - $130,000 per year supplemented by a competitive total compensation package. Actual salary will be determined based on the candidate’s experience, expertise, and Wavefront Centre’s internal equity guidelines.

Key Responsibilities

Business Development & Growth

  • Maintain and pursue opportunities to expand Wavefront Centre’s audiology services.
  • Support marketing initiatives and community outreach activities.
  • Foster and strengthen relationships with healthcare providers, partners, and stakeholders.
  • Direct and support employees in achieving key sales goals.

Financial Management & Reporting

  • Develop and manage departmental budgets, ensuring effective allocation of resources.

  • Work with the Director, Finance + Operations to develop forecasts and identify areas for cost savings and revenue generation.

Team Leadership & Collaboration

  • Support training and development initiatives for audiology staff to ensure high-quality service delivery.
  • Collaborate with hearing manufacturer/vendors on pricing and training.

Clinical Care

  • Provide direct audiology services on a part-time basis to assist with patient appointments and reduce wait times.
  • Support the delivery of exceptional client care, working in alignment with best practices and Wavefront Centre standards.

Client Experience & Accessibility

  • Maintain Wavefront Centre’s commitment to accessibility and inclusivity within audiology services
  • Ensure all clients, including those who are Deaf, DeafBlind, and Hard of Hearing, receive exceptional and equitable care
  • Promote accessible communication technologies and solutions that enhance service delivery.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree or equivalent in Audiology; current registration and licensure to practice as an Audiologist in BC.
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in audiology or healthcare leadership roles.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage budgets and oversee business operations.
  • Experience with marketing strategy and execution of marketing initiatives
  • Experience providing clinical audiology care, with willingness to balance clinical and leadership responsibilities.
  • Strong interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills, with the ability to foster collaboration across diverse teams.
  • Experience working in health, community development, or social services organizations that serve marginalized populations is an asset.
  • As Wavefront Centre is a bilingual environment (ASL/English), fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) is an asset.

Compensation Range: $46,410 to $54,600 per year

Hours of Work

The typical hours of work are 9:00am to 5:00pm, Monday to Friday, flexibility is required. Incumbents may be asked to work evenings or weekends from time to time
