Better At Home program
Seniors who are Deaf, DeafBlind, or Hard of Hearing often face challenges like social isolation due to limited accommodations for their communication needs. Our program works to overcome these barriers by providing accessible services specifically designed for seniors in BC.
Through our Better At Home Program, we identify isolated seniors and offer vital outreach services, including companionship, home visits, non-emergency transportation, facilitated shopping trips, and more. These services help seniors live independently and remain connected to their communities.
Our volunteers play a key role in delivering these services. Each volunteer undergoes a thorough screening and training process to ensure the highest level of support.
In addition to our outreach efforts, we host workshops and special events, including our annual celebration for seniors in recognition of the United Nations’ International Day of Older Persons.
We also offer a variety of workshops as well as a social meals program that helps seniors connect over shared meals throughout the year.
