Employment Services With Wavefront Centre for Communication Accessibility

by | Nov 5, 2024 | Employment

While we’ve made major leaps and bounds in the world of accessible employment services for those who are Deaf, DeafBlind, or Hard of Hearing, these individuals still face daily challenges and exclusion in employment and education settings due to communication barriers.

Wavefront Centre offers various employment services for residents of Vancouver, BC, that will help break down those barriers in communication and create employment opportunities for all, regardless of their hearing status.

Our employee counselling services are offered by Certified Career Development Practitioners (CCDP); many of these specialists are fluent in ASL, and can help our Deaf or DeafBlind communities with employment options, too.

These professionals, who are all registered with the BC Career Development Association, showcase in-depth career development knowledge and commit themselves to abiding by the Canadian Standards and Guidelines for Career Development Practitioners Code of Ethics.

Our team at Wavefront Centre ensures that you receive the best career planning possible, that’s individualized and crafted with you in mind to make sure that you achieve your specific goals.

Our Employment Services include the following:

  • Employment counselling and support to ensure you achieve your goals
  • Employment Resource Centre (access to computer, TTY, printer, and webcam)
  • Employment service workshops (resume and interview preparation, job search, job-readiness activities)
  • Occupational skill enhancement training to help you better your skills and soar in your new job
  • Workplace assessments, to ensure your place of work is accessible for your needs
  • Workplace sensitivity training, to help your coworkers help you succeed
  • Disability supports applications (funding for assistive equipment such as hearing aids and alerting devices)
  • Community presentations, including topics like ASL, accessibility in the workplace, and more
  • Employer and employee liaisons

Our Employment Services are available in Vancouver and our Tri-Cities Office in Port Coquitlam.
