Why we change our logo to Pride colours during Pride celebrations

Why we change our logo to Pride colours during Pride celebrations

By Christopher T. Sutton
CEO, Wavefront Centre for Communication Accessibility

Like many organizations across the globe, Wavefront Centre for Communication Accessibility is proud that we are changing our logo to the Pride colours during Pride celebrations. This change represents our commitment to inclusion, diversity, equality and accessibility (IDEA) for all.

At Wavefront Centre, our mission is to inspire, educate and create positive change in the lives of those we serve while promoting a more accessible and inclusive society for all. Wavefront Centre has always stood for breaking down barriers and empowering our communities to connect to the world around them. Incorporating the Pride colours into our logo, we reaffirm our dedication to supporting and uplifting the LGBTQIA2S+ community. It is a symbol of our respect and recognition of the unique challenges faced by LGBTQIA2S+ individuals, especially those who are Deaf, DeafBlind and Hard of Hearing.

Supporting IDEA is more crucial than ever. In many places around the world, including here in Canada, there has been an increase in discriminatory legislation and policies targeting LGBTQIA2S+ individuals. It includes laws that restrict transgender rights, limit discussions of LGBTQIA2S+ issues in schools, and more. These measures contribute to a hostile environment that can increase harm and danger for our communities.

Pride is a time to celebrate love, acceptance, and our progress toward a more inclusive society. It is also a reminder of the work that still needs to be done. At Wavefront Centre, everyone deserves to be seen and valued for who they are.

Join us in celebrating Pride and advocating for a world where everyone can access communication and information equally. Together, we can create a more inclusive and accessible future for all.
