by | Nov 5, 2024 | Achievements, News

Under the Rick Hansen Foundation Accessibility Certification (RHFAC), Wavefront Centre for Communication Accessibility scored an incredible 96 out of 100 points.

With over 1,300 sites across Canada rated through the RHFAC, we’re delighted with the fact that we received the highest national accessibility rating to date.

We’re very proud of all we’ve done to make sure our centres are as accessible as possible.

As the leading provider of services to help break down communication barriers for people who are Deaf, DeafBlind, Hard of Hearing, or hearing, our inclusive and meaningfully accessible environment means a lot to us as an organization.

What Is the Rick Hansen Foundation?

The Rick Hansen Foundation was established in 1988 to advocate for innovative solutions to remove barriers for people with disabilities.

Named after Rick Hansen, who set out on the Man in Motion World Tour in 1985 to do a wheelchair marathon around the world, the RHF works for all Canadians to help raise awareness and change attitudes about disabilities across the nation.

The Rick Hansen Accessibility Certification seeks out those buildings and sites that go above and beyond to ensure that their spaces are as accessible as possible.

Why Wavefront Earned 96/100 on Our Rick Hansen Certification

Wavefront Centre has raised the bar for accessibility building standards across Canada through this outstanding achievement, and we are delighted to celebrate with them. We encourage other organizations to look at Wavefront Centre for inspiration in reviewing the meaningful accessibility of their buildings, and begin the journey towards creating a more inclusive future for everyone.
