As a registered charitable organization, we go beyond just selling hearing aids. We put your hearing health and your needs first.
Wavefront’s Hearing Aid Clinics provide more than just hearing tests and hearing aid services. As the only non-profit clinics in Western Canada, Wavefront’s clinics take pride in also providing social service programs and participating in activities that benefit our community.
We recognize that many individuals may not be financially able to purchase hearing aids. This is why as a non-profit organization, Wavefront Centre created our Lend An Ear Program.
Through donations of used hearing aids, government grants, and income from our hearing aid sales, Wavefront Centre offers a Lend An Ear Program which provides permanent loans of refurbished hearing aids for those who cannot afford new ones.
For a nominal fee of $140, an individual under the Lend An Ear Program can receive a hearing test, a permanent loan of one hearing aid, an earmold, and one-year of repair service.
We heavily rely on donations of used hearing aids to support this program. This means that there is usually a waitlist for the program and it also means that if you have a used hearing aid that you no longer need, we would greatly appreciate your donation of your used aid to the program and “lending an ear”!
Wavefront Centre’s Better Communication with Hearing Loss classes are offered in a supportive, small group environment. These classes can greatly improve your chances of success with hearing aids, as you will be taught basic speech reading and strategies to better communicate in difficult listening environments. Family members are encouraged to attend with the hearing aid user. New classes start every month.
Classes are free with new hearing aid purchases. Regular fee: $80. Wavefront Centre or Canadian Hard of Hearing Association members: $20.
If you are frequently exposed to loud environments for prolonged periods of time, you should consider hearing protection to prevent hearing loss and damage.
We recommend that you book a hearing protection appointment with us if:
Wavefront Centre’s hearing health professionals dispense high quality custom-made noise plugs for work environments and musician’s earplugs. Our musician’s earplugs provide filter options depending on the type of instruments or music performed, so that you can hear your music and filter out harmful noise at the same time. For musicians, Wavefront Centre’s professionals also offer follow-up and counselling about hearing conservation and music.
Wavefront Centre’s hearing health professionals are part of the clinical faculty of the UBC Faculty of Medicine – School of Audiology and Speech Sciences. We offer:
